MYKO Greens Now Distributing on the Las Vegas Strip

A double entendre for mycology and microgreens, MYKO Greens, is a vegan, plant-based business in Las Vegas, NV. Established on Jan. 2021, the Filipino-owned plant business is now serving multiple eateries such as Aijyas Sushi and Bento restaurant and Café Express. Now partnering with Ahern Casino and the Pepper Club at the English Hotel, including private chefs such as Eliza from TheBlazedChef (on Instagram) for “Blunts and Brunch” where cuisines are THC infused, the local business is growing vastly and allowing for more sponsorships and loyal customers. Furthermore, MYKO Green’s wheat grass was recently used in Toyota commercials. Produce is also available at Veg In Out Market in Las Vegas, NV. MYKO Greens will be appearing at Vegan Wonderland and Veg Fast in October including Happy Earth Day.

From a very young age, Owner Lloyd Green began his planting journey with his grandfather. “My grandfather taught me how to grow tomatoes, eggplants, then citrus,” explained Green, “It’s mental therapy something that I find peace within myself.”

Microgreens are vegetables and herbs in the beginning stages of growth usually used in fine dining. Green explains that microgreens are “very nutrient dense because there’s no pesticide and no growth hormones. I believe in sustainable farming; it only takes two weeks to grow.” He uses Cocogrow, a coconut brick, instead of soil. Then, he breaks it down and uses five gallons of water to begin the growing process. “Everything is microgreen. They taste exactly like the desired vegetable, but they have more of a kick, and it comes from a different seed. It’s very delicious,” he describes. The density of broccoli microgreens is more potent than a whole carrot crown! Microgreens can be either used as a garnish or in salads. MYKO Greens is in the process of distributing gourmet mushrooms to the public.

Farming came very quickly to him, but it was at the beginning of MYKO Greens that was the most difficult because of all the technicalities of starting a business. “In the beginning, I had to do everything on my own. I had to do the cleaning, marketing, and printing of the labels. At one point, I wanted to quit because I wasn’t getting results, but I’m happy I preserved,” explains Green.

MYKO Greens recently released “The City of Dreams” merchandise campaign to show appreciation for the city of Las Vegas. The first collection consisted of 45 shirts which quickly sold out to supporters. Green explains, “This is something to put out for Vegas because Vegas put me on.”

MYKO Greens has multiple ideas for expansion. As clientele’s demand for products increases, “I definitely want to get a warehouse, but I want it to have a smoothie bar and let people see where the food is being grown,” as Green explains the importance of sharing the knowledge of being self-sufficiency and reliance when it comes to consumption. He wants to teach the community how to farm, free of charge, for the sake of health and wellbeing. “I want to be inspirational and make MYKO Greens a family-known brand. I want to make a statement and leave a legacy as a Filipino who made a plant business in America,” he exclaims.
